Discover one of the mechanical tests performed on chairs: static seat and backrest load.

Test objective:

To replicate the accelerated aging of a chair when a person sits and leans back.

Test principle:

  • Loads are applied at specific points on the seats and backrests.

  • First, at the seat (100 kg), then at the backrest (30 kg).

  • For 25,000 cycles.
And this is true for any type of seat (sofa, recliner, etc.).

The method used: It is standardized; it is NF EN 12520.

An NF-certified piece of furniture will withstand this particularly selective test: after this test, no damage should be observed, and the sagging should be less than 3 cm.
